The House

Per fumum

A London perfume house built on the oldest way of wearing scent.

The story

Across the world, burning fragrance to scent the body is a living tradition: bakhoor and the mabkhara in the Gulf, uunsi and the dabqaad in Somalia, the kōdō of Japan, the attars of Kannauj. In the West, smoke survived only as candles and incense for the home.

House of Barian brings the ritual back to the body, with rare natural ingredients, an electric censer that needs no flame, and a modern European luxury identity. A ritual no one else owns, with ingredients no one else has.

The crest

A drop of resin, crowned with saffron

The house crest is a B within a drop of resin, before a jewelled halo, crowned by three saffron threads and framed by Art Nouveau stems in flower. Its motto, Per fumum, is the Latin root of the word perfume.

Six house sigils mark the compositions of the First Rites and the Attar line, and every Atlas chapter has its own.
